On Monday 13 May a two day experiential training course in remiscence arts care was held at Bathway Theatre Network (BTN).
Twenty people from a variety of different professional backgrounds (from social care, performance, to qualitative research) took part. As part of the training they undertook exercises that would be part of a Reminiscence Art's programme and talked through the benefits of these exercises for those suffering with dementia.
A number of participants will go on to take part in the Reminiscence Arts Apprenticeship that coincides with the 8 week programme 'Remembering Yesterday: Caring Today' - a series of two hour sessions for people with dementia together with a close relative. Drama, drawing, singing, dancing and good conversation will all be used to create a light-hearted atmosphere for sharing lifetime memories and bringing families closer together.
