How to apply?

A residency is flexible and the length depends on what you are looking for and what we can offer. As an indication, residencies usually consist of a period between one week and a few months.

Residencies come with all sorts of benefits, namely:

  • regular use of rehearsal spaces;

  • a showcase of your performance in our fully equipped, 100 seat, black box theatre;

  • feedback through a Q&A after the performance if you so desire;

  • technical assistance during the performance, use of our facilities and - although subject to negotiation - props and set pieces;

  • a chance to invite potential sponsors and promoters - as well as students, family, friends and other guests;

  • free membership to the BathwayTheatre Network - making it possible to market any publicity for future up coming events on our website;

  • online presence during your residency on our website, Facebook and Twitter, and the possibility to collaborate with one of our experienced members of staff and/or drama students.

  • We are interested in all kinds of performances, both from established performers and emerging artists; whether you are looking to showcase a new piece, run a project or collaborate with Bathway Theatre.

  • We are looking for new work which contests the status quo, interrogates ideas, is physical and socially engaging.

  • We focus on performances that tickle all senses and that have an impact. This could be through multi media performance, script work, physical theatre or any other gesamtkunst.

  • We are excited about performances that speak to our vibrant, culturally diverse community - as well as our students and wider audience.

  • BTN strives to connect local practioners and audiences as well as a wider artistic community.

In return for the time and space, we ask residents for academic involvement or an artistic exchange. This could be in the form of a workshop or talk - or simply tickets for students to see your showcase.

We also ask for the acknowledgement of Bathway Theatre Network in any publicity leading up to, and as a result of, your showcase. This could be in the form of the BTN logo or a mention (to be discussed).

Finally, we expect you to provide us with feedback on your experience of BTN's Performance Platform.

If you are interested, please download our APPLICATION FORM and return to BTN administrator Connie Gallagher once finished. Both individuals and groups can use this form.

We will respond to your application within 4 weeks . If we are interested, we will invite you for a chat.

Although we like to provide all our applicants with feedback, we are not always able to due to the high volume of applications.
